Favorable Fillies by ANCHOR DOWN at OBS June

Stallion has highest percentage of winners of any Kentucky second crop sire

A top second crop sire by percentage of stakes performers and winners, TAPIT son ANCHOR DOWN is quickly proving he can easily sire talented runners. Last week he also proved he’s a top sire of 2-year-old breezers.

The stallion saw two of his four OBS June 2-Year-Old Sale offerings breeze the second fastest time of the week when stopping the clock at :10 during the Under Tack Show before this upcoming sale

The first of that duo is Hip 135, a filly out of Bint Elusive (Elusive Quality). The dam of five winners from six to race, Bint Elusive is also the dam of stakes-placed Desanctus and granddam of stakes-placed Miss Orienta. There is stakes form throughout this Top Line Sales-offered filly’s page with her granddam also the granddam of multiple stakes winner Determinato.

Also note that the similar Tapit / Elusive Quality cross is responsible for Belmont Stakes winner and two-year-old Eclipse Champion Essential Quality.

The success marches down the page to her third dam after that. That mare has produced stakes producers in addition to being a half-sister to multiple stakes winners. All-in-all, this filly’s family includes stakes performers under each of her first four dams. <Watch her breeze>

Hip 135 is joined by Hip 770, a filly named Tropinka. Offered by GOP Racing Stable, Tropinka is out of the stakes-placed Trippi mare Snow Trial. The dam of two winners from three to race, Snow Trial is also a half-sister to stakes winner Appealing Spring.

There is plenty of stakes form all around for this family with Tropinka’s third dam, the Grade 3 winner Pert, who produced Grade 3-placed Shaker Knit and who sees Canadian Champion Female Sprinter River Maid under her daughter’s name.

Others listed under Pert include Grade 3 winner Runaway Ghost, Group 2 winner Nominadora and Group 3 winner Ile Miscou. In all, there are 19 stakes performers listed on Tropinka’s page. <Watch her breeze>

If you’re looking for a regally-bred filly, you don’t have to look any further than Hip 608 from Winner’s Circle Thoroughbreds. <Watch her walk>

The filly is out of stakes-placed Ocean Colors, who is the second-to-last foal out of champion and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Winning Colors. The dam of two winners from her four to race, Ocean Colors is a half-sister to the dam of Grade 1 winner Eskimo Kisses and to the stakes placed dam of stakes winner Cheerful Smile.

In all, only two dams were able to fit on Hip 608’s page with 16 stakes performers listed under only Winning Colors’ name – including Ocean Colors. <Watch her breeze>

ANCHOR DOWN sees his first offering go through the ring during Wednesday’s opening session as Hip 135. He’s represented by two through the ring on Thursday with his final offering being Tropinka on Friday.

Each of the three sessions at this week’s OBS June sale start at 10:30am ET.
