Foaling Groom

Gainesway Farms has an immediate opening for a Foaling Groom. This position is responsible for caring for laboring mares and foals, notifying personnel once a mare is in foal and assisting with foaling as needed.

This position will also assist in grooming mares/foals, cleaning and mucking stalls and must have the ability to lift up to 130 lbs. The Foaling Groom will work 6 days per week and may be required to work overtime as needed.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience is required for this position. We offer excellent salary and benefits and the opportunity to work with a great team!

The Seasonal Yearing Groom is responsible for preparation of yearlings for sales.

Some of the essential functions of the position include: handling and prepping yearlings, mucking and cleaning of stalls, feeding/watering animals, driving/operating farm equipment and administering medication/first aid as needed.

The candidate should have the physical capability to walk yearlings for up to 3 miles/day, ability to lift 90 lb. feed bags and 130 lb. hay bales, can work 6 days per week, has reliable transportation, references and a great attitude.

The Groundskeeper position is responsible for planting and maintaining flora/fauna, which may also include digging, raking, watering, spraying insecticide and herbicide, pruning and removing debris. Gainesway prefers the candidate have at least one year of experience, can drive/operate a vehicle and has at least a general knowledge of plants.

This position reports to the Horticulture Manager. Hours are Monday-Friday with occasional weekends, 7 am-4 pm EST. Overtime required as determined by supervisor.

The candidate should have ability to lift up to 100 lbs., be able to bend, twist and stoop as some of the physical requirements. The candidate should also have good communication skills and be a team player.

The Stallion Groom is responsible for the care of the stallions. Some duties include mucking stalls, feed prep and distribution, cleaning/refilling water containers, grooming and bathing, assisting in breeding sessions, cleaning tack, administering medicine and first aid as needed. Reliable work history and 3 years in a similar position preferred.

• Applicants must be willing to work as part of a team.

• Must be able to handle stallions weighing up to 1600 pounds. Lift 90+ pound feedbags and 160 pound hay bales.

• Requires a full range of physical motion in order to move throughout assigned areas, as the work is primary performed outdoors, year round.

• Must be available to work 6 days per week and overtime as needed; speak/read English; have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
