Gainesway has released stud fees for its 2018 roster, and Tapit, the leading North American sire in 2014, 2015, and 2016, will again command a $300,000 fee and his book will be limited to 125 mares.
Gainesway was noticeable among stallion owners bidding on mares at the Keeneland January sale to support their first-season sires and through four days of the five-day auction, the Kentucky nursery has signed for five mares targeted to visit two-time graded stakes winner Anchor Down (Tapit) when he begins his stud career next month.
New Gainesway stallion Anchor Down, a brilliant miler by Tapit who enters stud in 2017, will have a limited number of lifetime breeding rights offered through the Share the Upside program.
Anchor Down, a multiple graded stakes-winning miler at Belmont Park by Tapit who defeated Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) victor Tamarkuz when taking the Kelso Handicap (G2) in a near track-record 1:32.90, has been retired and will enter stud at Gainesway.
