ANCHOR DOWN’s Sea To Success Romps in Oaklawn Debut

Second winner in three days for Anchor Down

It was a second winner in three days for ANCHOR DOWN on Sunday when Sea To Success romped home by 4 ½ lengths in an Oaklawn Park maiden. The win gave ANCHOR DOWN his 14th winner and took his strike rate to 53.85% winners to runners.

Making his debut in the race, the John Sadler-trained  Sea To Success was quickly off from the widest gate and was quickly in the mix for the lead in the six furlong race.

Entering a duel with the pair leaving the rest of the field behind, Sea To Success was clearly well in hand. As they raced around the turn, he easily galloped away from his rival to have the lead by over a length as they entered the stretch. Still a bit green, jockey Cristian Torres had to keep Sea To Success focused on the task at hand but despite being distracted he was able to easily pull away.

As they entered the final furlong, Sea To Success was allowed to gallop home and give ANCHOR DOWN the highest percentage of winners to runners of any Second-Crop Sire with more than 20 runners.

Bred by Gainesway, Sea To Success is owned by Jerry Caroom. The gelding is the second foal for two-time winner Manhatta, who is a half-sister to the stakes-placed dam of multiple graded stakes winner Isotherm and Grade 1-placed Gio Game.
