Good Culture was ready to run for ANCHOR DOWN on debut Saturday with a two length Maiden Special Weight victory at Aqueduct to take the TAPIT son’s winner to runner rate to 52.17%.
Racing over a mile on the dirt, Good Culture had only one horse beat early on but looked comfortable in that position. The gelding left himself plenty to do as they left the backstretch and had his work cut out for him but he figured out the game as they rounded the turn and kicked into gear.
As the field raced down the stretch, Good Culture made a huge run to go from last to first in the final furlong and looked like he could easily go further if needed when pulling away to win by two lengths.
Trained by George Weaver for Harrell Ventures, Good Culture was a $125,000 weanling at the Keeneland November Sales when sold to Steve Young from the Wynnstay Sales consignment.
The second winner from two to race for stakes winning Lady Fifty Two (Kodiak Kowboy), Good Culture was bred by Richard and Yvette Wira. Out of Grade 3-placed K. D.’s Shady Lady, Lady Fifty Two is also a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Lady Of Fifty and stakes winner Forestry Steel.
Lady Fifty Two visited another TAPIT son at Gainesway last year in Tapit’s classic winning son TAPWRIT.
