It was another winner for TAPWRIT Tuesday night when Written Dance broke his maiden in a Remington Park Maiden Special Weight.
The colt sat in second for the first quarter of the one-mile dirt race as he dueled with the pacesetter before grabbing the advantage late down the backstretch. He started to pull away as they left the turn and looked well on his way to victory before a late closer cut down his margin to a head in the end with the rest of the field nearly five lengths behind.
Written Dance is trained by Robertino Diodoro for Jerry Caroom and was making his second start in the night race.
A $95,000 RNA earlier this year at a 2-year-old sale, the Usquebaugh Stables-bred is out of the winning Uncle Mo mare Modiste. That mare is out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Graydar and two other graded stakes placed runners.
TAPWRIT is now the sire of 13 winners, the 10th best of all freshmen, led by one stakes performer.
