It was a new winner for SPUN TO RUN on Tuesday when Twenty One Kid broke his maiden in his second start.
The six-furlong dirt contest saw Twenty One Kid break from the widest gate and shoot straight to the lead. Only one horse was able to get ahead of him in the early running, but even that didn’t last wrong with Twenty One Kid going head-to-head with him soon after.
By the top of the stretch, that rival was done and none of the other runners had any chance of catching the winner. While they closed on the second-place horse, Twenty One Kid proved to be a far superior runner and raced to a 7 ¼ length win.
Trained by Harold Wyner for John Fanelli, the colt hails from the Repole Stable breeding program.
This is the second foal out of Candy Ride mare Key Account, who is a half-sister to the stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Savings Account. The duo is out of the stakes winning Wild Hoots, who is a full sister to the Grade 1 winner Buddha.
Those produced by Wild Hoots’ siblings and their daughters include Argentina champion Queen Liz and Grade 3 winner Late Night Pow Wow with 11 stakes winners and four other stakes performers under Twenty One Kid’s first three dams.
SPUN TO RUN’s five winners include the stakes placed Midnight Humor, who broke his maiden by 3 ¾ lengths
