Tapestry Colors became the newest winner for freshman sire TAPWRIT on Saturday when the filly won a Monmouth Park Maiden Special Weight.
The filly went to the lead early in the five-furlong turf race and controlled the pace every step of the way. Tapestry Colors steadily pulled away throughout the early stretch to have four lengths on the field going into the final furlong. Jockey Angel Rodriguez’s only task was to keep the debut runner focused and he did just that with Tapestry Colors wrapping up to win by 2 ¾ lengths in the end.
The Florida-bred Tapestry Colors is trained by Kathleen Demasi for Pewter Stable and had hinted at her talent in recent works, including the bullet of 42 breezers at Monmouth Park in late July.
Out of a three-quarter sister to multiple stakes-laced Mo Of The West, Tapestry Colors herself is a three-quarter sister to a three time winner. The filly’s third dam is the Grade 3 winner War Thief, who produced two stakes performers herself.
The sire of three winners from his first five runners, TAPWRIT is the sire of five winners overall with five other placers from only 18 runners worldwide.
#1 Tapestry Colors wins for fun in the 4th race at Monmouth! Congratulations to trainer Kathleen Demasi and all of the connections!
