MyRacehorse and Starry Night Racing’s TAPWRIT daughter Cumberland Falls became her sire’s newest winner at Monmouth Park with a 1 1/4 length Maiden Special Weight victory on the dirt.
The Kent Sweezy-trained gray came out of the gate running and dueled for the lead as one of three who wanted it in the one-mile race. The fight heated up around the turn with Cumberland Falls getting the best of Avant to have the advantage coming into the stretch. She continued to run her race in the stretch and scored by 1 ¼ lengths with the third placed runner 10 ¼ lengths behind at the end.

Bred by Millennium Farms, Cumberland Falls is bred on the same TAPIT son x Distorted Humor cross as three stakes winners and 13 stakes performers from 78 runners. The filly is one of six winners from seven to race out of Moonbow, whose daughter Super Shopper produced stakes placed Praetorian Guard.
The filly’s granddam is the stakes winning Storm Beauty, who produced Grade 3 winner Buffum and multiple stakes winner Stormy West with bluehen mare Stick to a Beauty as Cumberland Falls’ third dam.
TAPWRIT is the sire of 27 winners from his first crop with that group including multiple stakes winners. His two 2023 stakes winners ties him in fifth among his crop alongside a group that includes Justify and Girvin.
