The second most popular freshman sire among breeders this year with over 200 mares bred, MCKINZIE sees a combined 43 mares carrying his first foals cataloged at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale and Keeneland November Sale.

Both of McKinzie’s Fasig-Tipton offerings come later in the sale, starting with Hip 213 from Ramsey Farm. Into Mischief’s Bourbon Oaks winner Naughty Joker is one of three stakes performers out of the Distorted Humor mare Fleeting Humor and is carrying her first foal by MCKINZIE on an April 23 cover.

Her siblings include the Grade 3-placed AFLEET ALEX son Seventhfleethumor and stakes-placed Cathedral Reader as well. Her own dam is a half-sister to stakes winner Bosco out of the Grade 2-placed Fly Borboleta.

Twenty-three hips later is Sisterhood, also consigned by Ramsey Farm, as Hip 236. A stakes winning full sister to the stakes winner Cozy Kitten and Grade 3-placed Becky’s Kitten, Sisterhood has already produced a stakes winner from her first foal in the stakes winner and Grade 3-placed In The Mood.

Both of Sisterhood’s runners are winners with the mare also one of five winners from her dam and that mare one of six winners out of Jodie Faster. Sisterhood produced a Catholic Boy filly this year and is bred to MCKINZIE on a May 24 cover.

The following day, the November sales cross town to Keeneland, where MCKINZIE has 41 mares in-foal scheduled to go through the ring.

Offered in Book 1 of Keeneland September is hip 160, a blacktype Majesticperfection mare who was runner up in the True North (G2) at Woodbine. Named Magic Spell, she is carrying her first foal on cover with MCKINZIE, her second dam is the 11-time winner, multiple graded stakes performer Superduper Miss, herself half the 9-time winner, multiple graded stakes performer Lines of Beauty. Consigned by Valkyre Stud, she will be offered on Wednesday.

In Book 2,  hip 250 is a blacktype winner by The Factor named Sold It, out of a half sister to graded stakes winner Cool Arrow. Similar crosses of Street Sense with the Danzig sireline have produced G1-winning millionaire Hallowed Crown, as well as fellow Australian Grade 1 winner Politeness. Sold It sells Thursday from the James B. Keogh consignment.

Among MCKINZIE’s early offerings is TAPIT mare Tapany, offered by Timber Town as Hip 281. Bred to MCKINZIE on a March 30 cover, Tapany is a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Tizway and stakes winner and multiple graded stakes winner Ticket To Seattle, in addition to the dam of stakes winner Senator Beck.

Tizway is one of three Grade 1 winners on the page with their dam Bethany a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Will’s Way and Willa On The Move in addition to the Grade 1-placed Citidancer. Tapany’s first foal is a Gun Runner yearling filly, who sold for $400,000 at this year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Legacy Bloodstock-consigned Hip 381, Causey, is a stakes producing daughter of multiple graded stakes winner Nasty Storm. Unraced herself, Causey has produced four winners from six runners with 15 wins between them. The group is led by the Grade 3 and Listed winner Causeforcommotion, who hit the board in three of her five stakes starts.

One of the first mares by Triple Crown winner American Pharoah to go to stud, American Legend is offered carrying a foal by MCKINZIE as Hip 748. Consigned by Gainesway, American Legend is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed and Ecuadorian champion Kingdom Road and Grade 3-placed Co Cola. Co Cola provided a big update to the page this year when her 3-year-old daughter Search Results won the Acorn  Stakes (G1) and was placed in two other Grade 1s – including nearly winning the Kentucky Oaks (G1).

The winning American Legend is out of a half-sister to three stakes performers, including Canadian champion Kimchi with another sister the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Mind Your Biscuits.

Buckland Sales sends out Corinthian Wind as Hip 1199, carrying to MCKINZIE on a May 29 cover. The dam of one winner from two to race, Corinthian Wind comes from a producing family. Her dam produced Grade 1 winner Here Comes Ben and her half-sister produced Grade 1 winner and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) runner-up Dayoutoftheoffice. Corinthian Wind is a granddaughter of Grade 1 winner Race The Wild Wind, who is also the dam of Group 1 winner King Charlemagne and Group 3 winner and Group 1-places Meshaheer.

Hip 1598, the stakes-placed City Zip mare Cast In Silver, is a half-sister to the classic winning Palace Malice. Offered by Denali Stud, Cast In Silver is one of six winners from eight to race out of the stakes winning Palace Rumor, who is one of four stakes winners for Whisperifyoudare. The dam of four foals, Cast In Silver has a yearling three-quarter brother to the MCKINZIE foal she’s carrying and a weanling Runhappy colt to come.

Gainesway-offered Hip 1655 saw a major update in early October when her half-brother Commandperformance finished second in the Champagne Stakes (G1). Bred to MCKINZIE on a May 14 cover, Enamored is out of the stakes-placed TAPIT mare Smitten. Smitten has seen three of her four foals to race hit the board and herself is one of three stakes performers out of Hi Lili, with that group led by the stakes winning Prodigy Doll. Hi Lili is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Blind Date and multiple stakes winner Sales Tax among others.

One of the first mares to visit MCKINZIE in 2021 when she caught on a February 17 cover, the seven-time winner Panoe is offered by Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services as Hip 1814. She is one of four winners from four to race out of Smokey’s Love, whose runners include the Grade 1 winner Fighting Mad and TAPIT’s Australian Group 3 winner Love Tap, who is the winner of five of his nine races.

Smokey’s Love is a half-sister to stakes winner Monsoon Rain and Grade 3-placed The Visualiser and out of a stakes winning half-sister to Grade 1 winner High Fly.

MCKINZIE’s popularity with breeders follows up an incredibly successful race career. The versatile son of Street Sense won from seven furlongs to 1 1/8 miles during a career that saw him win Grade 1s at two, three, and four with 11 individual triple-digit Beyer figures and the lowest Ragozin figures of any stallion to retire in 2021.
