SPUN TO RUN Juvenile Catches Eye at Lone Star

It was winner number two for SPUN TO RUN on Sunday when son Midnight Humor won a Lone Star Park Maiden Special Weight.

Owned and trained by Jayde Gelner, Midnight Humor had to deal with trouble at the start of the five-furlong race when bumped but was quickly back into stride. The gelding entered a battle with two other runners into the turn as they all fought to get their head in front.

One of those gave in around the turn, but Midnight Humor still had one to put away coming into the stretch. He did just that near the top of the stretch and started pulling away in the final furlong to win by 3 ¾ lengths with only two horses within nine lengths of him at the line.

This was the second start for the gelding, who was third on his debut here exactly two weeks ago. The Texas-bred is from Paul Pruett’s breeding program and is a half-brother to the stakes winning Divining Humor and stakes placed duo of E Dubai’s Humor and Hot Fun. In all Midnight Humor’s dam Final Humor has produced nine winners from 11 to race, led by those stakes performers.

Second dam So Generous never produced a stakes performer but was one of four stakes performers out of her own dam Rabida with multiple sisters also producing stakes performers.

SPUN TO RUN is one of only seven freshmen to have more than one winner this season and has eight on offer at this week’s OBS June 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale.
