On-Fire DRAIN THE CLOCK Set for OBS June Finale

It’s been a huge juvenile sales season for DRAIN THE CLOCK and he looks to carry the momentum to the finale next week at the 4-day OBS June 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale.

Among his fastest breezers was the Oklahoma-bred Hip 298, who stopped the clock in :10.0.

Bred by Alyse Roberts out of Ever So True and offered by Old South Farm, the colt is a half-brother to the winning She’s So True and a 3-year-old half-brother who placed in his only start at two. The colt’s granddam is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winning Yes It’s True and stakes winner Honest Deceiver with seven stakes performers overall on the page.

Lucy in the Sky is the dam of Hip 561, another :10.0 breezer.

Offered by Tomorrow Farms, the Woodgate Garm-bred colt’s four-time winning dam is already the dam of a two-time winner from her two to run. Lucy in the Sky is a half-sister to the Grade 3-placed Cosmo with even more stakes performers under the next dam. That Grade 2-placed dam is the dam of Grade 2 winner Fire With Fire and Grade 3 winner Cosmonaut.

Her daughters have been successful producers as well with their runners including Group 3 winner Ijigen and stakes winners Gran Yaco and Tapa Tapa Tapa. In all, there are eight stakes horses produced by Cosmic Fire’s daughters and granddaughters.

Lucy in the Sky had a DRAIN THE CLOCK filly last year as well.

The final of the :10.0 trio was Hip 613 out of Mo Cheeks.

Offered by Arroyo Bloodstock, this is the second foal out of that Uncle Mo mare. Bred by Hugh Moore, he sold for $195,000 at Keeneland September and has a successful page to back him up. His granddam is the stakes winning Nice Boots Baby, who produced stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Orinoquia and the stakes placed Storm Shooter. Orinoquia is the dam of the stakes winning Top Line Growth and the stakes placed duo of Kitchen Fire and Hitch a Ride.

Nice Boots Baby is one of two stakes performers out of Foxfire Lass with that mare also the dam of two stakes winners.

DRAIN THE CLOCK’s juveniles have sold for up to $1.1 million in 2026 with the stallion having a winner from his first runner and producing a TDN ‘Rising Star’ with his second winner.
