The first offered by MCKINZIE is Hip 41, a colt offered by A. G. Sales out of Garter.

Bred by Kelly Bownes, the colt is a half-sister to the stakes placed trio of Go for a Stroll, Stormy Day, and Reception among the seven winners out of Garter. By Bernardini, Garter is out of the Grade 1 winning Fire The Groom. That mare also produced champion and Grade 1 winner Stravinsky and stakes winner Moscow Ballet among four stakes performers.

Over nine generations behind Garter have produced stakes performers with those stakes horses including Grade 1 winners Dowsing, Royal and Regal, and Native Street.

Breezing in :9.4 was Hip 142 out of Indy Annestesia consigned by Eddie Woods.

The March-born colt is a half-brother to the stakes-placed Ocean Fury and two other winners from four to race out of his A.P. Indy dam. That mare is out of the Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Two Trail Sioux, who also produced stakes placer and nine-time winner Cheyenne Pass.

All four dams on this page have produced at least one stakes performer with fourth dam Unending Love also the granddam of Grade 1 winner Energia Davos.

“We always liked them at the yearling sales so I was happy to end up with 12,” Woods said of his group of MCKINZIE juveniles earlier in the year. “They are a very good group who have handled everything really well from the beginning. I really like how good their minds are and they are starting to show now that they will be plenty quick.”

Hip 191 out of a three-quarter sister to Grade 2 winner Kantharos breezed in :9.4 for Julie Davies before going through the ring.

The colt is third out of Tale of the Cat mare Karpathos, who is also a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Ikigai and stakes winner Bonifacio in addition to Grade 2-placed Halo Nation. The colt’s three-time winning grandam is also a half-sister to multiple stakes performers herself.

That mare’s siblings include multiple stakes winner Clever Idea and stakes placed Fortune In Gold. Clever Idea is also the granddam of Grade 2 winner Key of Life and Fortune In Gold produced stakes winner Fortune Got Even while another half-sister produced multiple stakes winner Love Not Lost.

Lucan Bloodstock offers Hip 416, a MCKINZIE half-brother to two stakes winners out of Grade 3-placed Nite In Rome bred by Scott and Debbie Pierce and Dermot and Emma Quinn. In addition to Grade 2 winner Three Technique and stakes winner and multiple Grade 2-placed Stan The Man, Nite In Rome has produced eight winners overall from 10 to race.

Stakes performers aren’t a rare occurrence for this family with Nite In Rome one of three stakes performers from her own dam. Two of her siblings have also produced stakes performers as well. They are two of seven straight generations of mares to produce at least one stakes performer with many of their daughters also producing stakes performers.

Grade 3 winner Sacristy is the dam of Hip 556 offered by Cortez Racing and Sales.

Bred by Don Alberto, the filly is a half-sister to stakes winners Catiche and Flor de la Mar with Flor de la Mar finishing second in the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) as well. Sacristy herself is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Mozu Superflare and to the dam of Grade 1 winner Qafila in addition to the dam of the stakes placed Hit The Woah.

Sacristy is a sixth-generation stakes producer with those dams including the dam of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Foolish Pleasure and the granddams of Grade 1 winners Purge and Jersey Girl.

Hip 756 consigned by Cesar Loya Training and Sales breezed in :21.3 during the Under Tack Show to catch the eye. The filly is the second foal out of TAPIT’s stakes-placed Tapped.

Bred by LNJ Foxwoods and Gainesway, she is a granddaughter of Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Gemswick Park. That mare also produced stakes winner Scotland and the dam of stakes-placed De Regreso. Gemswick Park is one of three stakes performers out of the stakes winning Queen’s Park, a half-sister to Group 1 winner Poet’s Voice.

Tapped had a MCKINZIE colt last year and visited OLYMPIAD in his first year at stud.

Named Field Song, Hip 834 saw an update in February when half-brother Post Time won the General George Stakes (G3) followed by the Carter Stakes (G2).

It was the fourth and fifth stakes win for that colt, who has won eight times in nine starts with at least one stakes win each of his three seasons on the track. Field Song’s stakes winning dam Vielsalm has produced three winners from three to race and is one of 12 winners out of Merriweather. Vielsalm is a half-sister to the stakes placed duo of Open the Bank and Fujita.

Just off the page under Field Song’s fourth dam are her third dam’s Grade 1 winning half-sisters Rose’s Cantina and Fancy Naskra with another half-sister producing Grade 1 winner Montreal Red.

The filly was bred in Maryland by Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Bowman, Dr. Brooke Bowman, and Milton Higgins III.

A Louisiana-bred half-sister to Grade 1 winner Zenden sells with Mayberry Farm as Hip 879 on April 18.

The duo is out of You Laughin, who is the dam of six winners from seven to race with the group also including five-time winner Southern Summer. You Laughin is a half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner Sweet Reason and two other stakes winners.

Their stakes-placed dam Livermore Leslie’s 11 winners include five stakes performers with Sweet Reason producing stakes winner Diastima and Grade 3 winner Don’t Forget Gil the granddam of stakes winner Whatchatalkinabout.

Julie Davies consigns Hip 974, a filly who sold for $200,000 as a yearling, out of Speightstown mare Bay Harbor and bred by Fred Hertrich III, John Fielding, and Robert Tribbett. The filly earned an update after the catalog came out with her 3-year-old half-sister breaking her maiden in her second start on March 17. That one is the first foal out of Bay Harbor.

Placed on the track herself, Bay Harbor is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Grace Adler and Grade 2-placed Virginia Key. They are out of the Grade 3 winning Our Khrysty, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Bullsbay and the stakes winning duo of Vegas No Show and Hidden expression.

Our Khrysty is a fifth-generation stakes producer with three of those producing Grade 1 winners.

The Eddie Woods-offered Hip 1143 tied the track record on Sunday when sharing the quarter mile bullet for the sale with a :20.1 breeze during the final day of the Under Tack Show.

Bred by Brent and Beth Harris, the filly out of winning D’Wildcat mare D’Fashion is the half-sister to five winners from five to race, led by multiple stakes winner Strategic Dreams. The mare’s foals also include eight-time winner D’archer and three-time winner Light and Path.

D’Fashion is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Express Tour and stakes winner Kitty Cat Express. Six of the filly’s first eight dams have produced at least one stakes performer with five of them producing a stakes winner.

A flashy son of MCKINZIE sells through Hernandez Stables’ consignment as Hip 1188 as the last for his sire in the sale.

The colt is the second foal out of Curlin mare Enamored, whose first foal has registered multiple works. Placed as a juvenile, Enamored is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed Commandperformance with the duo out of stakes-placed TAPIT mare Smitten.

Smitten is a half-sister to stakes winner Prodigy Doll with five other stakes winners and five other stakes performers. She is an eighth generation stakes producer with five of the mares also earning their own blacktype.

The OBS Spring 2-Year-Old In Training Sale kicks off on Tuesday.
