It was a second winner in two days for TAPWRIT when Marley Luck dueled it out to the finish at Gulfstream Park.
Racing over 5 ½ furlongs on Gulfstream’s synthetic track, Marley Luck entered a duel from the start and continuously swapped the lead throughout the race with none of the horses willing to give an inch. While the third horse involved in the fight backed off quickly as the field raced around the turn, it just got even more serious with the two remaining rivals.
A bit of bumping occurred late as Marley Luck lost the lead and he was a head back at the line but the stewards ruled in his favor in the end.
Marley Luck is trained by Fausto Gutirrez for St. George Stable and was bred by C. Kidder, N. Cole, B. Kidder, and E. Voute in Kentucky. St. George purchased the colt from Gainesway at last year’s Keeneland September Sale.
Marley Luck is one of three winners out of three-time winner Everything Sweet. That mare is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Fantastic Style and to the dam of Panama Horse of the Year Capocostello.
TAPWRIT now has 14 winners with Marley Luck joining two-time winner Victory Formation as winners for the stallion this weekend.
