A week after his Victory Formation won the Smarty Jones Stakes, TAPWRIT recorded a 16th winner overall when Hit ‘Em Up broke her maiden at Sam Houston for the Lone Star Racing Club.
The filly shot to the lead in the 5 ½ furlong dirt race where she entered a three-way duel that lasted most of the race. It wasn’t until the stretch that Hit ‘Em Up was able to shake clear of her rivals and she opened up multiple lengths as the other two started to fade.
The fast fractions she helped set helped a closer come after her late but that horse couldn’t get up in time with the filly taking the victory by a neck after multiple placings in her previous starts.
Trained by Ronnie Cravens, Hit ‘Em Up is a Kentucky-bred hailing from the breeding program of Dr. David Richardson and North Hanover Bloodstock.
The filly is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Really Mr Greely with their dam a half-sister to the stakes winning dam of multiple Grade 3 winner Touching Promise. This is also the family of bluehen mare Baby Zip, who produced Horse of the Year Ghostzapper and Grade 1 winner City Zip.
TAPWRIT’s $10,000 stud fee continues to look like an excellent bargain with his 31 of his 54 runners hitting the board at least once to give him a 57.41% placer to runner rate.
