Gainesway Young Guns Set For Successful Keeneland September

TAPWRIT and KARAKONTIE Both Represented In Book 1

While TAPIT looks to continue his reign as King of the Sales ring with 21 yearlings in Book 1 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, two Gainesway young guns look to make their own mark in the ring during the first week of selling – including his Belmont Stakes (G1) winning son TAPWRIT.

TAPWRIT sees his first yearling crop represented in Book 1 by Hip 143 from the Gainesway consignment. The gray filly is out of the Grade 3 winner Sheza Smoke Show, whose daughter Princess Noor leads her two winners as the victress of last year’s Del Mar Debutante (G1).

Each of the four dams listed on the page for Hip 143 are stakes performers and producers. In addition to producing stakes winners, each of her first three dams won stakes while fourth dam Royal Troupe was stakes placed and produce three stakes performers led by stakes winner Royal Form.

Lantern Hill Farm sends TAPWRIT‘s Hip 869 to the ring in Book 2. The colt is out of Rylee’s Song, who has produced two winners from three to race, led by seven-time winner Shareholder Value.

By top broodmare sire Unbridled’s Song, Rylee’s Song was unraced but is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Capt. Candyman Can. Another one of her half-sisters is the dam of stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Samoa and Grade 1 placed runners La Onda and Ola Grande.

TAPIT sons have sired six stakes horses out of Unbridled’s Song daughters from 46 runners. Led by stakes winners Christmas and Annex, the group also includes Grade 1-placed Gouverneur Morris.

Selling on Saturday in Book 3 is a TAPWRIT colt with a big update! HIP 1288 is a half brother to undefeated juvenile stakes winner One Timer, who captured the Victoria Stakes on July 31st at Woodbine. One Timer is the only other registered sibling out of the dam Spanish Star, and herself is an unraced daughter of Blame and a half-sister to Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Sir Winston. As a young broodmare sire, Blame is already represented by over 10% stakes winners to runners.

Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner and rising sire star KARAKONTIE is represented in Book 1 by Gainesway-offered Hip 382. The KARAKONTIE son is out of the stakes-placed Graceful Grit, who has already had success with the sire. A young mare with one to race, Graceful Grit saw her KARAKONTIE daughter Karacrown win this year as a juvenile.

Graceful Grit is one of three stakes performers out of Liu, with that mare the dam of stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Night Bokbel and stakes-placed Lohengreen in addition to the subject’s dam. Liu daughter Princess Liu produced 10-time winner and stakes winner Tempete Nocturne with another daughter producing multiple stakes placed Wootton Asset, who most recently placed in a Pimlico stakes race in July.

TAPWRIT‘s Book 1 offering goes through the ring during the first day of selling on September 13th while KARAKONTIE’s is on the second day of selling. TAPIT’s yearlings sell throughout the sessions on both days. Book 1 sessions start at 1p.m. ET with Book 2’s sessions starting on the 15th with a 11a.m. ET start time.
