Gainesway Stalwarts Make Splash at Keeneland November

Gainesway stalwart stallions continued to be in high demand at Keeneland November with KARAKONTIE, MCKINZIE, and TAPIT all having success with their offerings going through the ring.

KARAKONTIE saw his daughter Memorialize sell to Winchell Thoroughbreds for $350,000 from the Mill Ridge Sales consignment.

Memorialize was a 2-year-old stakes winner for her sire when she won the Tepin S. at two and earned nearly $150,000 on the track. The KARAKONTIE daughter selling carrying her second foal is out of the stakes-placed four-time winner Smart Emma, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Kagura and out of multiple Group 3 winner Miss Emma.

Smart Emma produced a KARAKONTIE colt named Ske Sock in 2024 and a TAPIT colt in 2025.

A weanling filly by MCKINZIE sold for $435,000 to Caitlin Dunne on behalf of Wesley Ward from the Gainesway consignment in Book 1.

Bred by Gainesway and Brian Graves, each of this filly’s first five dams have produced stakes performers. Her own Grade 3-placed dam Beloveda is the dam of stakes winner Ganadora and stakes placed Mistress of Love. Beloveda is one of two stakes performers out of her own dam as a three-quarter sister to Grade 3 winner and stakes producing Golden Mystery.

MCKINZIE also had proven racehorse and broodmare prospect daughters sell for $375,000 and $350,000 in addition to other weanlings bringing $310,000, $230,000, etc.

TAPIT daughters are always a hot commodity with the stallion the broodmare sire of 153 stakes winners, led by 19 Grade 1 winners.

That was on display again at this sale when WinStar Farm, Lindy Farms, and Light Post Ventures went to $650,000 to buy his stakes winning daughter Summerintahoe.

Selling as a broodmare prospect after a career that saw her win four races with three other top two finishes and nearly $300,000 in earnings, she is out of the stakes placed Tossup. This is a strong family from top to bottom with Tossup a half-sister to the stakes winning Pauseforthecause and stakes placed Aggelos The Great out of multiple stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Spritely.

TAPIT also saw daughters sell for $400,000, $350,000, $335,000, etc.
