Gainesway’s established sires were popular at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale this week with TAPIT having a colt sell for $735,000.
Sold to BSW/Crow on behalf of Go Go Greys from De Meric Sales, the colt was bred by the Tapit Syndicate, McCann Bloodstock, Mark Kelder and EDR Equine Inc. and sold with Gainesway for $235,000 as a yearling. He is out of the winning Empire Maker mare Bayou Tortuga who provided an update to the page when she registered her sixth winner after the catalog was released.
Bayou Tortuga is also the dam of the UAE Oaks (G3) winning duo of Polar River and Down on Da Bayou and the Grade 3-placed Rare Form. The mare also has a TAPIT 3-year-old colt who won on debut last year and is placed in 2026.
Bayou Tortuga is a half-sister to the stakes winning trio of Tortuga Straits, Tortuga Flats, and Lightsnatcher out of a half-sister to champion Aboline and two other stakes performers.
Go Go Greys also added a $350,000 TAPIT colt to their stable. That one is a half-sister to the Grade 1-placed Cocktail Moments and out of champion River Maid.
TAPIT’s second most expensive was a $425,000 colt purchased by Tom Durant from the Caliente Thoroughbreds consignment.
Bred by Horseshow Racing and the Tapit Syndicate, he’d also sold with Gainesway for $350,000 at the Faisg-Tipton October sale. The April-born colt is a half-brother to the stakes placed trio of Cees Get Degrees, Clouded Judgement, and Royal Engagement. Their dam has produced five winners from six runners overall with her 5-year-old registering a fifth career win to take his earnings to $366,767.
Indian Cee is a half-sister to the dam of multiple Grade 3 winner Bettys Bambino and is out of a full sister to Horse of the Year Tiznow, Grade 2 winners Budroyale and Tizdubai and others.
MCKINZIE also had a popular offering when Delta Squad Racing went to $310,000 to acquire a colt from Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds.
Bred by De Luca and Sons Stable, he is another Gainesway graduate after selling at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale last year. The colt is the first foal out of the nine-time winner Boerne, who won three stakes during her time as a racehorse.
There are multiple Grade 1 winners on the page in Dramatic Gold and Oscar Performance to compliment his dam’s stakes victories. In all, there are nine stakes winners on this page.
Boerne has a yearling filly by OLYMPIAD to come as well.
