Drain the Shot DRAIN THE CLOCK’s First Stakes Winner

DRAIN THE CLOCK registered his first stakes winner on Friday under the lights when Drain the Shot broke his maiden in the Oklahoma Classics Juvenile S. at Remington Park.

The six-furlong dirt stakes saw Drain the Shot sit a few lengths off the leader while saving ground from an inside position.

He shadowed the leader down the Oklahoma backstretch and when that one left him a hole on the rail in the turn, he took advantage. Drain the Shot slid through the spot to easily take the lead with no one alongside him going into the stretch.

The race wasn’t over from there with another horse catching him and making sure Drain the Shot felt pressure all the way to the line, but Drain the Shot easily held him off to win by 1 ½ lengths.

Trained by Mike Maker for David Staudacher, the Amy Marie Bayle-bred is the seventh winner overall for DRAIN THE CLOCK.

Drain the Shot is a grandson of the multiple stakes winning Moment of Majesty, who has produced seven winners from seven foals. He is the first foal out of his three-time winning dam Moment to Dream, who is a full sister to dual stakes winner Star Moment and half-sister to Grade 3-placed Fools Gold.

The colt’s fourth dam is champion Fiji with the family also including Grade 1 winner Java’s War.

Moment to Dream went back to DRAIN THE CLOCK this year.
