It was a second winner in three days for OLYMPIAD on Friday when Miracle Morrow won on debut in a Belmont Park Maiden Special Weight.
Rodolphe Brissett entered the gelding in a 6 ½ furlong turf race to start his career with the large field seeing him break widest of all. Out of the gate he battled the leader early before dropping back a few lengths to watch two horses battle it out in front through the middle stages of the race.
Flavien Prat kept his mount wide throughout and started having him move closer in midturn so they were sitting just behind the leader coming into the stretch. Miracle Morrow clicked into another gear when a horse came up his outside in the final furlong and was in a three-way battle to the line with all three within a neck of each other and Miracle Morrow winning by a nose.
A $110,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-Bred purchase by his trainer for Storyteller Racing, Michael Motley, Jonathan Wilmot, and Michael Schroeck, Miracle Morrow was bred by Larry Goichman.
The seventh winner out of his stakes placed dam Shea Darby, Miracle Morrow looks like he’ll have plenty of talent with three stakes placed siblings. Those three include Grade 3-placed Shawdyshawdyshawdy and stakes placed Just Step On It, who was also fourth in the Haskell S. (G1).
Shea Darby is one of two stakes performers for her own stakes winning dam Jesse’s Justice with an unraced half-sister producing Grade 3 winner Luster. This family also includes the Grade 1 winning Going to Vegas.
This is the 13th winner for OLYMPIAD, who also saw daughter Olympic Dream win this week when romping in her own maiden by 11 ½ lengths.
