CHARGE IT named First Team Value Rookie Sire by Joe Nevills / Paulick Report

I make a point to get out to the farms and see as many first-year stallions as I can in the leadup to writing this series. Without any foals on the ground or at the track, the physical presence gets a little extra weight when assessing stallions.

There were two rookie stallions of 2025 that made me inadvertently blurt out four-letter words when I first saw them led out of their stall. The first was Ashford Stud’s Domestic Product, whose fee is above the $20,000 threshold.

The second was CHARGE IT.

CHARGE IT stands 16.2 hands tall, and the combination of length that Tapit imparts on his offspring, along with the strength that broodmare sire Indian Charlie contributes to his bloodline makes an already imposing figure feel towering.

Somehow, I’ve gone this long without mentioning the fact that the Tapit/Indian Charlie cross is the same one that gave us the mighty Flightline, who entered stud at $200,000 after a Horse of the Year campaign.

CHARGE IT‘s female family certainly stands up to Flightline’s. His second dam is Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady, which puts sire power on his page including Omaha Beach, Take Charge Indy, and Will Take Charge, all Grade 1 winners.
