It was a holiday weekend double for TAPWRIT on Monday when the debuting Cha Cha Tap registered a debut victory at Colonial Downs two days after Proctor Phantom’s Saturday romp.
Cha Cha Tap spent much of the one-mile turf race over five lengths behind the leader while saving ground as one of the last horses in the field. Swung wide in the stretch, the filly showed a big closing kick to catch the leader late and win by 1 ¾ lengths.
Cha Cha Tap is trained by Milan Milosevic for Charles Fawley and was bred by Waymore LLC.
The fourth winner out of Hat Box, she is a half-sister to the stakes winning Creative Thinking and stakes placed El Bueno Consejo. Hat Box is out of the Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 placed Maiden Tower, who also produced stakes winner Penglai Pavilion and stakes-placed Picture Hat.
TAPWRIT is the sire of seven winners with four other runners placing at least once from limited runners. Three of those winners have come in the last 2 ½ weeks.
