ANCHOR DOWN’s Dropped Anchor Romps at Gulfstream

Third win of year for ANCHOR DOWN son

ANCHOR DOWN‘s Dropped Anchor won his third race in six starts this year on Thursday at Gulfstream Park with a commanding seven length victory.

The colt proved to be the best from the start when breaking on top in the one mile race and staying in command from there. Keeping over a length on the field at every call, he was ready to expand that lead when asked by Angel Arroyo.

The ANCHOR DOWN son romped away down the stretch with no one in the field able to get anywhere near him. As he flashed past the wire, the second place horse was seven lengths back with the rest of the field over 11 lengths behind him at the line.

This was the third career victory for the Wadie Khalaf-owned 3-year-old with Dropped Anchor finishing top three in six of his eight starts.

Bred by Brandywine Farm, Dropped Anchor is one of eight winners from eight to race out of a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Wonder Again. The page continues to get massive updates every weekend with Wonder Again the granddam of Grade 1 winner Colonel Liam, one of the best turf horses in the United States.

Quality runs throughout the page with Dropped Anchor’s family members also including Grade 1 winner Tribulation and multiple graded stakes winners also placed at the Grade 1 level.

TAPIT son ANCHOR DOWN has one of the highest percentages of winners and stakes horses of any second crop sire with his runners included four stakes performers.
