Creative Move took ANCHOR DOWN’s winner to runner percentage to 53.57% when breaking his maiden at Camarero Race Track on Sunday to become his sire’s 15th winner from 28 runners.
The chestnut colt broke from the widest gate in the one mile race on the dirt and stayed wide for much of the race as he ran just behind the leader. Racing stride-and-stride with another horse in third, the race favorite was relaxed under Juan Diaz as they worked their way around the oval in the widest path.
Around the turn, the horse he had been dueling throughout the run made their move for the lead and Creative Move stuck with him as they barreled down on the leader.
The pair continued to stay in their personal duel as they approached the line with Creative Move sticking his nose in front at the line in only his third start.
Trained by Jose D. Velez for Sonata Stable, the Gainesway-bred colt is a half-brother to stakes-placed Tale Twister with their dam a half-sister to stakes winner Bibby. Also in the family are the Grade 2 winning duo of Sweet Vendetta and Continental Red.
Creative Move’s dam Abounding Love as an unnamed 2-year-old full sister by ANCHOR DOWN, who was recently a $95,000 RNA at the OBS March Sale.
Standing for $5,000 in 2021, ANCHOR DOWN has one of the highest percentage of both winners and stakes performers in Kentucky with his 53.57% winners complemented by 14.29% stakes horses.
