Tuesday evening at Fasig-Tipton brings a unique pair of offerings from the Gainesway consignment with well-bred mares European Union and Gold Standard set to enter the ring.
The only mare in the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed sale in foal to champion sire TAPIT, and going through the ring as Hip 431, European Union is the total package. The 12-year-old mare has already produced the Grade 3 winner and 16-length maiden winner Trophy Chaser and has even better still to come with a yearling colt by Empire Maker and the foal she is carrying by Tapit.
European Union is by successful broodmare sire Successful Appeal, whose daughters have produced stakes winners such as our own Belmont Stakes (G1) winner TAPWRIT, who is bred on the same cross as the foal European Union is carrying, Grade 1 winner Barbon, and last year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) runner-up C Z Rocket. The mare also has one of the top families in the stud book.
Her dam Circle Of Gold is quickly proving to be a producer-of-producers as the granddam of European Champion 2-Year-Old Air Force Blue and stakes winners Shea D Summer, Surfside Tiara, and Miss Double d’Oro. The producing power runs deep with Circle Of Gold also the granddam of stakes-placed Expert.
The pedigree is strong throughout the generations with Circle Of Gold a full sister to Champion 2-Year-Old Flanders, who kicked off her own successful branch of the family when producing fellow champion Surfside. Flanders’ branch of the family also includes Group 1 winner Zillzaal and Grade 2 winners Battle Plan and Open Water among others.
In all, when you bring European Union home, you’re not only adding a successful producer in her own right to the broodmare band but a pedigree that is set to get better every day as well.
Supplemented into the sale is the lovely Hip 671 offered by Gainesway on behalf of Stonestreet and LNJ Foxwoods. A multiple Grade 3-placed earner of $269,000, 5-year-old broodmare prospect Gold Standard is ready to join your broodmare band.
Gold Standard is by top sire and broodmare sire Medaglia d’Oro. In North America alone, Medaglia d’Oro’s daughters have produced 26 stakes winners and 45 stakes horses, including Grade 1 winners Rock Fall, Competitionofideas, and Rachel’s Valentina. It is worth noting that Rachel’s Valentina and four other stakes performers are out of mares bred on the same Medaglia d’Oro x Forty Niner granddaughter cross as any foal out of this mare will be.
As to be expected by any horse owned by LNJ Foxwoods or Stonestreet, Gold Standard has a pedigree fit for the best broodmare bands.
The mare is out of a stakes-placed daughter of Distorted Humor with that mare’s dam the stakes winning A.P. Indy daughter Crystal Current. A full sister to Grade 1 winner Majestic Warrior, Crystal Current is also the dam of stakes-placed Savory Stomp – a three-quarter brother to Gold Standard.
Gold Standard’s third dam is the two-time Grade 1 winner Dream Supreme, who also proved to be a successful broodmare as the dam of three stakes winners and two other stakes horses. Dream Supreme is also the granddam of multiple stake winner and stakes producer Wind Fire and stakes producer A.P. Candy. The pedigree also includes champion Kung Fu Mambo and Grade 1 winner Sweet Sorrel, among others.
Both mares are available for inspection along with the rest of our consignment at Barn 6 now.
