Another champion for Tapizar could be on the horizon.
His daughter Amalfi Coast has been nominated in three categories for the 2019 Sovereign Awards, honoring Canada’s champions and recognizing their outstanding achievements in Canadian Thoroughbred Racing and Breeding. The official winners will be announced at the 45th Annual Sovereign Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Universal Eventspace in Vaughan, ON.
Amalfi Coast won three stakes races in a row on turf and synthetic for Terra Racing, and is the lone horse to be nominated in three categories: Champion 3-Year-Old Filly, Female Sprinter, and Female Turf Horse. Trainer Kevin Attard is a finalist for Outstanding Trainer.
The Female Sprint category has four nominees which indicates a tie for the award. The four nominees are Amalfi Coast, Here’s Hannah, Sister Peacock and Summer Sunday.
Amalfi Coast is by Tapizar, out of Include Katherine (Include), and was bred by Terra Farms in Ontario. Her stakes victories include the Grade 2 Bessarabian, Carotene, and Ontario Damsel Stakes.
Tapizar stands at Gainesway for $10,000.
