It was the 15th winner of the year for SPUN TO RUN on Saturday when Stiglets won an Oaklawn Park Maiden Special Weight.
The Philip D’Amato trainee sat just behind the leaders in the six-furlong dirt race but was never more than a length and a half back during the running. Racing three paths off the rail, he engaged the leader late in the race with neither willing to give up in the stretch.
Stiglets was able to grab a small advantage and had his neck in front at the line with just three horses within nearly eight lengths of the winner when it was all said and done.
Bred by Robert Zoellner, Stiglets races for Agave Racing Stable, Evan Trommer, and Rockin Robin Racing Stables and has $90,616 in earnings.
The colt is the first foal out of the winning out of Super Cute, who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Sydney Freeman. In all, there are stakes winners under each of Sydney Freeman’s first four dams with multiple daughters producing stakes performers as well.
Fifteen winners on the year puts SPUN TO RUN in sixth among all second crop sires, tying him with Tiz The Law.
