It was a second victory for SPUN TO RUN’s Twenty One Kid on Wednesday when he won at Penn National.
The colt stalked the colt early in the 5 ½ furlong dirt race, sitting just over a length off the leader for the first few furlongs. Around the turn, he was released and made a sweeping three wide move to grab the lead coming into the stretch.
Urged throughout the stretch run, he extended his lead to win by 2 ½ lengths as the heavy race favorite.
Trained by Harold Wyner for John Fanelli, Twenty One Kid has won two of his five starts with one other top three finish. The colt bred by Repole Stable is out of Key Account.
Key Account is a half-sister to the stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Savings Account and out of the stakes winning Wild Hoots, who is a full sister to the Grade 1 winner Buddha.
Those in Twenty One Kid’s family include Argentina champion Queen Liz and Grade 3 winner Late Night Pow Wow with 11 stakes winners and four other stakes performers under Twenty One Kid’s first three dams.
SPUN TO RUN is the sire of 10 winners from his first crop to sit ahead of stallions such as Game Winner and Win Win Win.
