Kenny McPeek signed the ticket for a $275,000 MCKINZIE colt at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale, making him the seventh most expensive to go through the ring on Tuesday.
Prairie Vista Partners bred the colt, who was originally sold to Davant Latham as a weanling last November. Each of his first three dams have earned blacktype and the colt is a half-brother to the stakes placed Elusive d’Oro among the four winners from five to race out of Bridgette Bordeaux.
That mare saw her half-brother Sir Flash finish third in the Roar Stakes in May to take their stakes winning dam Meadow Bride to two stakes performers from her four winners. Meadow Bride is one of two stakes winners out of her own dam alongside Prairie King with half-sister Drumlin producing two other stakes performers and the dams of multiple stakes performers.
The colt is bred similarly to Grade 2 winner First Mission and three other stakes winners by MCKINZIE’s sire Street Sense out of Medaglia d’Oro mares.
MCKINZIE’S four sold from five offered averaged $122,500 at the first major yearling sale of the season with the stallion having two more on offer at next month’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale on August 5 and 6.
