Just after the turn of the year, eight of RAGING BULL’s first yearlings are presented to buyers at this year’s Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale.
The first through the ring is the Gainesway-offered Hip 224, a Cove Springs-bred filly out of Angel Choir born on February 27.
Angel Choir was a five-time winner herself and a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed Quail Hill, out of the stakes winning Midwife. Both the filly’s second and third dams have produced stakes performers with her stakes-placed fourth dam the granddam of multiple stakes winner Gold For My Gal.
Royal Oak Farm offers Hip 639, the second foal out of Tiznow daughter Begonia. Bred by Mr. and Mrs. William L. Pape, the filly has a 2-year-old Hard Spun half-brother named Act Your Wage. Dam Begonia is a half-sister to the multiple stakes placed War Baby and out of the stakes winning Somme.
In all, there are eight stakes winners and two other stakes performers listed on the February 10th-born filly’s page with four of those stakes winners crossing the line first in more than one stakes.
RAGING BULL’s Hip 1307 is offered by Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services as the third foal out of stakes placed Amabilis, whose foals include a 2-year-old by More Than Ready to come.
That Champs Elysees daughter is out of the stakes performing Pure Joy, who has produced three winners. The page also includes Group 1 winner Mutual Trust, multiple Group 3 winner Antonoe, and stakes winner Posteritas. Three of the four dams on this page have produced stakes winners with only Amabilis not among that group.
Royal Oak Farm-offered Hip 1309 is the first foal out of the four-time winner Amnicalola, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Fly Away Angel and the multiple stakes placed In The Paint.
Fly Away Angel is also the dam of the Grade 3-placed Sonja’s Angel, who herself produced the stakes placed Mr. Raj. Each of the three dams with racing age foals on the page have produced stakes performers with the family including the Grade 1 winners Pure Fun and Chelsey Flower among 22 stakes performers under her first four dams.
A full sister to Group 3-placed Cambridge is the dam of Hip 1338, foaled on February 17. Offered by Claiborne, the filly is out of winning Dubawi filly Black Sand, who is also a half-sister to stakes winner Maqsad and out of Galileo’s multiple stakes placed Amerique.
That mare’s dam is multiple Group 1 winner Aquarelliste, a proven producer whose runners include four stakes performers led by stakes winner and Group 1-placed Ame Bleue. One of her winning daughters is also the dam of multiple stakes winner Art Du Val with her unraced daughters the dam of stakes winner Significance.
The final RAGING BULL yearling offered at the sale is the Scott Mallory consigned Hip 1351 out of Chanel’s Pride bred by H. Allen Poindexter. That mare first foal is an unnamed juvenile colt by SPUN TO RUN.
Unraced herself, Chanel’s Pride is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Chanel’s Legacy and four other winners. Chanel’s Legacy made their dam a third-generation stakes producer with only one of Chanel’s Pride’s first seven dams producing at least one stakes performer.
The January Sale runs from January 8th through 11th with each session starting at 10:00am ET.
