It was another successful juvenile sale for TAPWRIT in Ocala this week with his top offering at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds selling for $260,000 to Saffie Joseph Jr.

Offered by Top Line Sales, the Florida-bred colt out of Lin Marie was a $72,000 RNA at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale after selling for $62,000 at the 2021 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Named Afternoon Surprise, he is a half-brother to multiple graded stakes placed Dream Marie – the only runner out of their winning dam.
Lin Marie is one of four winners out of multiple stakes winner Coy Cat, who also produced stakes performers Doups Point and Newport Breeze.
John Connelly went to $180,000 to secure an Indiana-bred TAPWRIT filly out of Peruse. Part of the Omar Ramirez Bloodstock consignment, she is the first foal out of her dam.
That mare is a granddaughter of stakes placed Liberty School. Liberty School produced multiple graded stakes winner Just Jenda, who is also the dam of stakes winners Jenda’s Agenda and Miss Alacrity.
This filly also hails from the family of champion Nyquist and Grade 1 winner Sahara Sky among others.
The third most expensive by TAPWRIT at the sale was the $140,000 colt out of Pattitude. Offered by Marcial Galan, the colt was snatched up by Martin Racing Stable his second time through the ring.

The colt’s two-time winning dam also produced stakes placed Angitude and one other winner in addition to producing TAPWRIT’s placed Lightning Cashes. One of four winners out of her dam, Pattitude is also a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and multiple Grade 1 placed Scherzinger and to the dam of Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placed Kitten’s Roar.
TAPWRIT also had a pair sell in the ring for $110,000 and another sold privately for $130,000. In all, six of the eight by TAPWRIT brought six figures.
The 2-year-old sales season has been a good one for TAPWRIT with a filly from his second crop topping the TTA 2-Year-Old Sale earlier this month.
