The final major 2-year-old sale of the year looks to top off an exciting season for Belmont Stakes (G1) winner TAPWRIT with 16 juveniles set to go through the ring next week at the OBS June 2-Year-Olds Sale.
TAPWRIT’s 27 juveniles to sell this year (87.1% of those to go through the ring) from his first crop are averaging $114,259 with two leading the charge at $450,000 each. In all, eight have brought $125,000 or more.

TAPWRIT’s first through the ring at OBS June is Hip 46, a filly out of Lirica consigned by A B Thoroughbreds. Bred by Gainesway and Bridlewood, the filly is the first out of a multiple stakes winner who won six times overall. Lirica is one of four winners out of a half-sister to the stakes-placed Road Romeo with their dam a half-sister to three stakes winners – including the granddam of TAPWRIT’s multiple Grade 1 winning studmate MCKINZIE.
Whisper Hill Farm-bred Hip 150 consigned by Sugar Hill is a half-sister to the Grade 1-placed Sharm from her dam’s four to race. That five-time winning dam, Mystic Mirage, is out of a half-sister to the Grade 3 winning granddam of Grade 1 winner Ralis and two other stakes performers. In all, this filly’s first three dams have produced 18 winners from 24 to race.
Hip 207 comes into the ring with a blacktype update after Ellamira won the Campanile Stakes on May 1. Ellamira is out of a half-sister to the Top Line Sales-consigned colt’s dam Pattitude. Pattidue herself has two winners from two of racing age and is a half-sister to two stakes producers. Other than Ellamira’s dam, Pattitude is also a half-sister to the dam of Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Kitten’s Roar while Pattitude’s own dam produced Grade 2 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Scherzinger.
Hip 225 put in an impressive showing at the Under Tack Show when the TAPWRIT daughter stopped the clock in :10.1. Consigned by New Horizon Farm and out of Pocket Of Aces, the filly was bred by Gainesway and Bridlewood Farm. Pocket Of Aces is the dam of one winner from one of racing age and herself is a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed Cash Out and multiple stakes placed Pretty Fancy. This filly’s third dam is a Grade 1 winning half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Crème Fraiche and is a successful broodmare in her own right as the dam of Grade 1 winner and Grade 1 producer Clear Mandate and four other stakes performers with multiple daughters producing stakes winners.
Out of a half-sister to Silk n’ Sapphire, Hip 624 made sure she caught buyers’ attention when breezing in :10.0 for Goldencents Thoroughbreds during the Under Tack Show.

Bred by Brandywine Farm, the filly is a half-sister to eight winners from nine to race out of Ammalu, including six-time winner He’s Speightful. Ammalu’s half-sister Sapphire N’ Silk is a Grade 2 winner who produced three stakes performers, and Grade 3 winner Golden Itiz. While their half-sister Silk n’ Sapphire didn’t earn blacktype on the track, she has proven to be the best broodmare in the family as the dam of Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) winner Shared Account, who also produced Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) winner Sharing.
A filly familiar with the sales ring is TAPWRIT’s daughter out of As Rulers Go offered as Hip 646 from Cary Frommer, who breezed in :10.1 before her fourth trip through the ring. The Narola-bred is out of a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Switch and stakes winner and successful producer Keystone Gulch, who is the dam of Grade 2-placed Top Ravine and Grade 3-placed Celtic Beauty. In all, As Rulers Go’s dam has produced five stakes winners and/or stakes producers with As Rulers Go herself only having two of racing age other than this filly.

Silvestre Chavez Thoroughbreds sends Hip 786 through the ring – a colt out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and successful sire Munnings.
Bred by Bridlewood Farm, the colt is a grandson of the Holy Bull mare La Comete. That mare never raced but has left a mark on the track as the dam of the aforementioned Munnings, his stakes winning full sister Munnings Sister, the dam of multiple Grade 3-placed Snowboarder, and the granddam of stakes winning Pingxiang.
Already regally bred, Hip 1059 was given another update in May when his dam’s half-sister saw son Notturno finish second in the Hyogo Championship in Japan to become one of 13 stakes performers under this filly’s second dam alone. Consigned by de Meric Sales, the filly is a half-sister to two winners from three to race out of Kohili. Kohili is just one of multiple successful producers out of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) winner Desert Stormer. The best of that group is Grade 2 winner Sahara Gold, whose runners include Grade 1 winner Better Lucky, with that mare producing TAPIT’s stakes placed Tapwood.
The final through the ring for his sire is Hip 1101, a TAPWRIT half-brother to multiple Grade 2 winner Kathleen O named Tap Collector. That pair is out of the stakes-placed Quaver, whose only foal of racing age is Kathleen O and who has yearling and weanling filly full-sisters to Tap Collector.

Quaver’s granddam Pretty ‘n Smart produced Grade 1 winner Cupid by TAPIT and is also the dam of multiple Grade 3 winner Heart Ashley and stakes winners Ashley’s Kitty and Indianapolis. Heart Ashley herself has produced Grade 3 winner Fiano Romano and the Grade 3-placed dam of this year’s Grade 2 winner Ain’t Easy.
