TAPWRIT Yearlings Set to Light Up Fasig-Tipton October

A successful first yearling sales season continues for Belmont Stakes (G1) winner TAPWRIT October 25 – 28 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale.

TAPWRIT has been a hit at yearling sales with nearly 20 percent of his yearlings sold selling for six figures to bring over 10 times his 2021 stud fee. At Keeneland in September, TAPWRIT also saw his half-sister to Grade 1 winner Princess Noor leave the ring on a bid of $685,000 with her connections thinking so highly of the filly that they didn’t allow her to be sold for that price.

The last time TAPWRIT’s yearlings went through Fasig-Tipton’s Kentucky sales ring in July, he had the most six-figure yearlings of any first crop sire. This month, he has 18 cataloged to help him repeat the feat in one of the final yearling sales of the year.

That group starts 30 hips in when his half-sister to Grade 3 winner Really Mr Greeley takes the stage.

Consigned by Legacy Bloodstock, she is out of a winning half-sister to multiple stakes-placed Promise One, who is the dam of Grade 3 winner Touching Promise.  The family is strong from top to bottom with the filly’s stakes winning third dam Thirty Zip the dam of multiple stakes winners including stakes winner and Broodmare of the Year Baby Zip – the dam of Horse of the Year Ghostzapper and Grade 1 winner City Zip.

Buckland Sales sends out another TAPWRIT daughter as Hip 86 during the first day of selling. A half-sister to three winners from four to race, the filly is a granddaughter to multiple stakes winner Storm Beauty. That mare produced four stakes performers from seven winners, including Grade 3 winner Buffum. Storm Beauty isn’t the only successful broodmare for her stakes winning dam Stick To Beauty. That mare also produced champion Gold Beauty, who produced champion Dayjur and Grade 1 Maplejinsky, whose own descendants include champion Sky Beauty and Grade 1 winners Pleasant Home and Tale of Ekati, among others.

Out of a young, unraced Quality Road mare comes this son of TAPWRIT consigned by Blandford Stud, agent. From the immediate family of G2-winning juvenile Desert Party, Hip 251 is bred on a similar Tapit / Elusive Quality cross as Champion Essential Quality. This colt’s dam’s half sister saw her second foal Howling Time win impressively on debut at Churchill Downs since the catalogue.

Out of a half-sister to TAPIT’s champion Hansen comes Baccari Bloodstock’s daughter of Wake Me Up as Hip 733. That young mare is the dam of two winners from two to race with her daughter Dehydration winning three of her starts. Wake Me Up herself is a half-sister to four winners from four to race with the group including the forementioned Hansen and his Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) placed full sister Anonymity.

Out of a half-sister to Silk n’ Sapphire is Hip 840 from Brandywine Farm. The filly out of Ammalu has seen seven of her eight siblings win at least run race, including six-time winner He’s Speightful. Ammalu is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Sapphire N’ Silk, who produced three stakes performers, and Grade 3 winner Golden Itiz but one of her more successful siblings is Silk n’ Sapphire. A winner herself, Silk n’ Sapphire is the dam of Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) winner Shared Account, her herself produced Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) winner Sharing.

Hip 979 consigned by Scott Mallory, agent, is the first foal out of a Grand Slam daughter of juvenile-winning millionaire Mysterious Affair. A Kentucky-bred February colt from a successful Canadian family, his juvenile-winning dam is half to a multiple stakes producer, whose two foals to earn blacktype were also precocious juvenile winners.

This TAPWRIT colt out of a young Smart Strike mare is from the immediate family of champion Halfbridled. Also seen on his page are millionaires Mshawish, Lu Ravi, and Meteorologist. Sons of TAPIT crossed with Smart Strike mares have produced graded stakes performers Hidden Stash, Dack Janiel’s, and Ambivalent.

Bridlewood Farm consigns Hip 1113 through Denali Stud.

That colt is out of Dancing Secretary, whose siblings include multiple graded stakes winner and successful sire Munnings and multiple stakes winner Munnings Sister. Hip 1113’s granddam La Comete has also proved to produce producers with her daughters runners including multiple graded stakes placed Snowboarder and stakes-placed Sepight’spercomete. La Comete is also a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Icon Project and sire Lasting Approval, and out of Grade 1 winner La Gueriere.

Bridlewood and Denali also offer Hip 1412, a colt out of a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner The Factor. His dam is also a half-sister to the dam of Grade 1 winner Keeper ofthe Stars with the colt’s third dam producing multiple Grade 1-placed Chief Seattle.
