A day after selling the Fasig-Tipton Breeding Stock sales topper, Gainesway kicked off this year’s yearling sales season with seven six-figure sellers at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale, led by a $230,000 colt.
The second most expensive yearling by a sire with first 2-year-old, Hip 186 was purchased by Green Farm LLC as the 11th most expensive of the sale overall.
Bred by Thor-Bred Stables, the colt is the first foal out of six-time winning mare Indygita. Indygita is also a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Lemoona. A family full of stakes form, his granddam is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Juniper Pass and Group 2-placed Charming Kid.
The stakes winners just keep on coming in every generation with Grade 1 winners Crowded House, Ticker Tape, and Brando also among those on his page.
Gainesway’s own TAPWRIT was the sire of two of the consignment’s six-figure graduates with Gina Fennell scoring the winning $150,000 bid on a colt out of Smart N Soft.
That colt is a grandson of Grade 2 winner Softly, whose half-sister is the dam of Grade 2 winner Conquest Big E. The family is full of graded stakes winners with Grade 2 winner Sara Louise and Grade 3 winners Coragil Cat and Til Forbid among those named.
TAPWRIT also sired the Bridlewood Farm-bred filly out of Divine Trick offered by Gainesway.
A granddaughter of stakes winner On The Menu, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Include Me Out and Check The Label, the filly was bought by Tom McCrocklin for Champion Equine. Grade 1 form runs deep in the TAPWRIT daughter’s family with other Grade 1 winners named on her page including Sam’s Sister and Sweet Talker.
Maverick Racing was the winner of a bidding war on Hip 8, a colt by freshman sire Army Mule. Gainesway’s second offering through the ring brought $200,000 as a March-born colt from the family of Grade 1 winner Home at Last, top sire War Front, and others.
Bred in Florida by Caperlane Farm, that colt proved to be a strong pinhook for Gainesway clients who bought him for $40,000 at OBS last winter as a yearling.
Kenny McPeek was impressed by a dark bay colt out of stakes-placed My Lady Lauren from the Gainesway draft and secured a winning bid of $160,000.
The Cloud Computing colt saw two big updates with both his juvenile and three-year-old half-sisters placing in their seasonal debuts after the catalog was released. My Lady Lauren is out of a half-sister to two-time Grade 1 winner and sire Pioneerof the Nile and multiple graded stakes placed Forefathers with their dam the La Troienne-winning mare Star of Goshen.
With others selling for $130,000, $100,000, ect., Gainesway’s median was $50,000 higher than the sale’s median with their average nearly $30,000 higher. Gainesway grossed over $1,000,000 – fourth highest overall, with just 7 horses sold – and led by average with five or more horses sold.
Gainesway is hitting the road to Saratoga for the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale next month with a 14 strong draft of blue-blooded yearlings.
