ANCHOR DOWN’S Anchor’s Firstlady kept her winning streak alive on Thursday night with her third straight Charles Town victory.
Racing over 6 ½ furlongs against a field where she was the only one under four years of age, Anchor’s Firstlady got the first jump on her elders when the gate opened. She never opened up a large margin on the field but started pulling away under Javier Rivera when it mattered.
At the line, she was 1 ½ lengths in front – her widest margin of the race – for owner Flamingo Run and trainer Keturah Obed-Letts.
It was Anchor’s Firstlady’s third win in 27 days with the ANCHOR DOWN filly breaking her maiden on April 17.
Anchor’s Firstlady is a daughter of Our Emblem’s stakes winner Cedar Run’s Emblem, who has seen all but one of her foals win.
With only a little more than half the runners than any of the other second crop sires around him, ANCHOR DOWN currently sits in the top 10 by 2021 wins with his 12 2021 winners bringing home 17 victories.
In all, ANCHOR DOWN has 17 winners from his first crop of 30 runners with a 56.7% strike race winners to runners and 13.33% stakes horses to runners.
