A pair of Gainesway-sired colts were among the top offerings Oct. 4 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall yearling sale in Timonium, Md.
Jay Em Ess Stable went to $80,000 for a yearling son of Birdstone. Consigned by Daren English & Cathy Betts as Hip 49, the colt was produced from the Cat Thief mare Mia Gatto and is from the family of champion sprinter and successful sire Speightstown. Cheryl Prudhomme, Dr. Michael Gallivan, and Breeding Bliss bred the colt in New York.
Later in the sale, Grand Oaks paid $90,000 for Hip 150, a colt by Tapizar out of the winning Mr. Greeley mare Spirit Away. Consigned by Stuart Morris, agent, the colt is from the family of Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) winner Prized and three-time graded stakes winner Exploit. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Oak Ridge Farm.
