After a successful start to the juvenile sales season, TAPWRIT is set for next week’s OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale with 18 set to go through the ring during the four-day sale.

Through two sales, TAPWRIT’s first juveniles are averaging $148,333 – nearly 15-times his 2022 stud fee – with a median of $150,000. All six of his 2-year-olds through the ring have sold with a $250,000 colt and $200,000 filly leading the charge. At the OBS March Sale, TAPWRIT’s juvenile gave him the fourth highest average of any first crop sire.

At this month’s OBS sale, TAPWRIT’s juveniles include three half-siblings to stakes performers, nine out of siblings to stakes winners, and 17 horses in the catalog having multiple stakes winners on the page.

The first through the ring is Hip 3, a filly out of the multiple winner Ultimate Shopper consigned by Golden Thoroughbreds Training and Sales. The filly’s second dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Miss Shop, Grade 2 winner Trappe Shot, and stakes winner and Grade 1 producer Shop Again among others. She breezed 10.2 at the under tack show. View her Walking Video.

Breezing the third fastest time of the first session with a :10.0 is TAPWRIT’s Hip 181 from All Dreams Equine. The colt is a half brother to one winner from one to race out of Bern Obsession. That mare is a full sister to Grade 3 winner and 20-time winner overall Proceed Bee and a half-sister to Grade 2-placed Processor’s Turf. This is also the family of Group 1 winner Village King and Grade 3 winner Party Manners with the colt’s third dam Grade 2 winner Duty Dance. View his Walking Video.

Out of a half-sister to the stakes winning Julia Tuttle comes Hip 232, a filly consigned by Pelican State Thoroughbreds. The filly’s dam Candy d’Oro is the dam of four winners from six to race, led by six-time winner City Gold. Under her second dam is Julia Tuttle, who also produced Grade 1 winner Tom’s d’Etat, and two other stakes performers. That second dam is a full sister to champion and successful sire Candy Ride. The co-quickest quarter mile breeze in the third session on Tuesday was Hip 384, a gray or roan colt by TAPWRIT consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, agent. He is out of Dulce Arabe, by Speightstown and from the Chilean family of group one winner Fontanella Borghese. He breezed the 1/4 in 20.3. View his Walking Video.

Another juvenile to accomplish the 10 Flat 1/8 was hip 636, a filly by the Forestry mare Ladyflickerflacker consigned by Off the Hook. Ladyflickerflacker has already produced a Grade 2 horse from three to race, coincidentally by a fellow son of TAPIT in Tapizar. In fact, sons of TAPIT crossed with Forestry mares have so far proven to be a prolific one, the cross has resulted in Dubai World Cup winner Country Grammer by Tonalist – who like TAPWRIT was a Belmont S. (G1) winner. View her Walking Video.

A B Thoroughbreds sends Hip 681 through the ring, the first foal out of the multiple stakes winning Lirica. That mare is also a half-sister to 11-time winner Selling Out. This filly has multiple Gainesway connections throughout the page as a horse bred by Gainesway and Bridlewood Farm and from the family of TAPWRIT’s stablemate and multiple Grade 1 winner MCKINZIE. There are stakes performers under each of his three dams on the page with racing age foals with the most coming under fourth dam Stave. She breezed 10.3 at the under tack show on Wednesday. View her Walking Video.

A three-quarter sister to two winners from two to race is Hip 716 consigned by Julie Davies out of the winning Manahatta. That mare has found plenty of success with TAPIT sons with her two runners by Tapit son Anchor Down. Manahatta is a half-sister to both stakes placed Terrys Tom Cat and Game For More from her own dam’s seven other winners. Game For More not only was a stakes performer herself but is also the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Isotherm and the Grade 1-placed duo of Gio Game and Giant Game. She breezed 10.3 at the under tack show on Thursday. View her Walking Video.

The third foal out of Oh Kay See is the Eddie Woods consigned Hip 851, a $100,000 yearling at last fall’s Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Select Yearling Sale. The colt’s dam has produced one winner from two foals of racing age and herself is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner So Many Ways and 12-time winner Scherzi. This colt’s third dam is another stakes winner in the Grade 3 winning Really Happy, who produced the Group 3-placed Satono Flora and the dam of Group 3 winner Luminous Warrior.

“Our colt has broken out quite well… beautiful mover, we are very fond of him,” Eddie Woods said of the colt out of Oh Kay See.

One of the final 2-year-olds through the ring for TAPWRIT is Hip 982 from Dynasty Thoroughbreds. The filly is out of the winning Fusaichi Pegasus mare Roman Mistress, who has three winners from five to race and is out of the very successful Marozia. Marozia is also the dam of Roman Mistress’s Grade 3 winning full brother Andromeda’s Hero and stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Superfly in addition to her dual Grade 1 winning half-brother Stay Thirsty.

Marozia’s unraced daughter Without You Babe is another successful producer in the family. Her five winners from six to race include Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Tamarkuz, Grade 1 winner Without Parole, stakes winner She’s Got You, and the dam of stakes winner Best of Me. She breezed 10.2 at the under tack show on Friday. View her Walking Video.

The last 2-year-old that will be offered at OBS April is a filly consigned as hip 1041  by Little Farm Equine. Her second dam is a full sister to Grade 1 winner Cashier’s Dream. She breezed an impressive 10 Flat at the under tack show on Friday.
