Tournesol, a 3YO daughter of the regally-bred Breeders’ Cup Mile winner KARAKONTIE, charged late impressively from the the back of the pack to get the win in the Portofino Bay Stakes (Black Type) at Gulfstream Park.
This victory marks the daughter of KARAONTIE’s third win in just five career starts. She’s been on the board in four of those starts.
Bred in KY by Flaxman Holdings Limited, Tournesol is out of the Galileo mare Magic of Reality (FR). She is trained by Saffie A. Joseph Jr. and owned by BHMFR, LLC.
KARAONTIE ranks 3rd (tied) amongst his crop by stakes winners, behind American Pharaoh and Constitution.
