The first day of the sale sees 21 yearlings cataloged from the Gainesway consignment with Hip 8 going through the ring early in the session. That Quality Road filly is out of the winning Medaglia d’Oro mare Princesa Silvia, a half-sister to Horse of the Year Saint Liam, Grade 1 winner Funtastic, the Grade 2-winning dam of Horse of the Year Gun Runner and more. Princesa Silvia’s first foal to race is the placed TAPIT son King Silvio.

She is out of the bluehen stakes winner Quiet Dance, whose 13 stakes performers under her name take up most of this filly’s page.

Exactly 30 hips later is Hip 38, a chestnut full brother to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) winner Sharing, whose other Grade 1 placings include a second in the Coronation Stakes (G1) at Royal Ascot. The colt is also a half-brother to the stakes winning Riley’s Choice and out of Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) winner Shared Account.

Shared Account is one of four stakes performers out of Silk N’ Sapphire alongside the stakes winning Colonial Flag and Sparkle Blue and Grade 3-placed Mark of Success. Another one of the mare’s siblings produced the Grade 3 winning Twenty Carat.

TAPIT’s filly out of Songbird sells through Gainesway as Hip 51, the third filly out of the two-time champion and the second TAPIT daughter out of the mare. Out of the Grade 2 winner Ivanavinalot, Songbird’s siblings include the dam of graded stakes winner Mico Margarita. Ivanavinalot herself is one of three stakes winners and four stakes performers out of Beaty Sark, who has seen multiple daughters produce stakes winners.

American Pharoah’s Hip 96 is out of the proven Giant’s Causeway mare Trensa, a Grade 3-placed runner who has produced two Grade 1 winners. Those winners came on turf and dirt with Hawkbill winning Group 1s on turf in England and Dubai and Free Drop Billy winning the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland in addition to being Grade 1-placed at Saratoga. Trensa is the dam of five winners from six to race with one of her unraced daughters producing Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Emmanuel.

This filly’s sire American Pharoah has sired four Grade 1 winners in 2022 with those coming on both dirt and turf. The stallion is also the sire of two stakes performers out of Giant’s Causeway mares – stakes winner Ocean Atlantique and Grade 1-placed American Monarch.

The dam of one winner from one to race, TAPIT’s champion daughter Untapable is the dam of Gun Runner’s Hip 101 during the first day of the sale with the colt bred on the same Gun Runner x TAPIT cross that is becoming prolific on the track. Untapable herself is out of the Grade 2 winning Fun House, who produced Grade 1 winner Paddy O’Prado in addition to this mare. Gun Runner has already proven to be successful with this family after Untapable’s full sister Red House produced stakes winner Red Run from Gun Runner’s first crop.

Another full sister is the dam of Grade 3 winner Majestic Eagle by Medaglia d’Oro and two other stakes performers while a third sister is the dam of stakes placed Backflash.

Casa Creed’s Fourstardave (G1) win this summer gave a huge update to Hip 123 by Omaha Beach. The half-brother to Casa Creed had already received an update a few weeks prior when their relative Ridin With Biden won the Deputy Testamony Stakes but Casa Creed’s win gave that runner three Grade 1 wins from his seven career victories overall. This colt is also a half-brother to the Grade 3 winning Chess’s Dream and out of a half-sister to stakes placed Unbridled’s Heart and Leopard Rock.

Out of multiple graded stakes winner Wild Heart Dancing, this colt’s dam Achalaya is also a half-sister to the dam of the multiple stakes placed Conquest Wildcat.

By Curlin, Hip 133 is a half-sister to the dual Grade 1 winner American Gal and to the stakes winner Americanize among the three winners out of Grade 2 winner American Story. There are Grade 1 winners throughout this page with American Story a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Seventh Street – the dam of TAPIT’s Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Lake Avenue and Grade 1-placed Marking. The popular Grade 1 winner Reynaldothewizard is also another successful runner American Story can call a half-sibling with their multiple stakes winning dam Holiday Runner having four winners from four to run.

The second session of the Keeneland September Sale is presented with 15 offerings by Gainesway to conclude Book 1.

Hip 219 by Gun Runner is the second foal out of TAPIT’s Grade 1 winner Dream Dancing. That mare is a granddaughter of champion and six-time Grade 1 winner Beautiful Pleasure, who also produced the Grade 1-placed Dr. Pleasure. Dreaming Dancing’s dam has also produced the stakes-placed trio of Awesome Sky, Sky Dreamer, and Dream Maker with Sky Dreamer the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Kimbear.

Gun Runner bred to TAPIT mares is already a successful cross with four stakes performers from 13 runners including Grade 2 winner Wicked Halo (whose full sister Gainesway offers as Hip 297), Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Society, and stakes winner Red Run (Gainesway offers a Gun Runner filly out of that colt’s dam’s full sister as Hip 101).

A Bernardini filly from the famed Stonestreet Bred & Raised family sells as Hip 223 out of the great dual Grade 1 winner Dream Rush. Dream Rush has been just as successful a broodmare as a racehorse with her daughters including Grade 1 winner Dreaming of Julia and TAPIT’s Grade 3 winner Dream Pauline in addition to the stakes winning stallion Atreides.

Of course, Dreaming of Julia is also the dam of champion Malathaat, who added another Grade 1 win to her record a few weeks ago in the Personal Ensign (G1) at Saratoga. This filly is a three-quarter sister to Dreaming of Julia, who is by Bernardini’s great sire A.P. Indy.

Out of proven broodmare and Grade 1 winner Hot Dixie Chick comes Hip 280, a Constitution colt from the Stonestreet Bred & Raised program. Hot Dixie Chick is one of two Grade 1 winners and three graded stakes winners overall out of Grade 3 winner Above Perfection alongside Kentucky Derby (G1) and Florida Derby (G1) winner Always Dreaming.

But the mare has proven her own worth as a broodmare as well as the dam of TAPIT’s Grade 1 winning Pauline’s Pearl, who took out this year’s La Troienne (G1). The mares four winners also include multiple stakes winner and successful New York stallion Union Jackson.

It was a huge start to September for Hip 281 when Olympiad won the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) at Saratoga. A half-brother to stakes-placed Hungry Kitten, this American Pharoah yearling is out of the multiple graded stakes winning Hungry Island. That mare is a half-sister to Grade 3-placed Tokyo Time, whose runners include the aforementioned Grade 1 winning Olympiad.

Hungry Island’s other siblings include the Grade 3 winner Soaring Empire and four-time winner Flying Dixie, who produced Grade 1 winner Preservationist. Another half-sister is also the dam of this year’s UAE 2000 Guineas (G3) winner Azure Coast.

By champion Nyquist, Hip 285 is the second foal out of Tiznow mare Indelible, who saw her first foal sell for $260,000 as a weanling.

The popularity of Indelible’s foals makes perfect sense with the mare a half-sister to dual champion and four-time Grade 1 winner Essential Quality, out of the Grade 3-placed Delightful Quality. Delightful Quality herself is one of three stakes performers out of Contrive, who produced champion Folklore and stakes winner Divided Attention in addition to the dam of stakes winner Tiz Plan. Much like her half-sister, Folklore has been a successful broodmare, producing the dam of Japanese Triple Crown winner and three-time Japanese champion Contrail.

Hip 297 received a timely update just a little over a week before the sale when her full sister Wicked Halo added the Prioress (G2) to a resume that already had the Adirondack (G2) on it. Both Gun Runner fillies are out of TAPIT’s Grade 2 winner Just Wicked, one of two TAPIT graded stakes winners and three TAPIT stakes performers overall out of the stakes winning Wicked Deed.

Wicked Deed herself is one of two stakes winners for her own dam, who also saw another daughter produce Grade 3 winner Proforma.

You can find all the Gainesway Book 1 yearlings at Barn 2 in the days before the sale kicks off on September 12 at 1pm ET.
