Tapizar colt brings $250K at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic

Colt breezed :10 2/5 furlong at under tack show

A colt from the second crop of Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Tapizar brought $250,000 during the May 23 session of Fasig-Tipton’s Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training.

Choctaw Racing Stable purchased the bay colt, who had breezed a furlong in a rapid :10 2/5 at the under tack show for consignor Randy Miles, agent.

Cataloged under the name Soaring Bird, the colt was bred in Kentucky by Liberty Road Stables from the multiple stakes-winning and multiple Grade 1-placed sprinter Free Flying Soul (by Quiet American).

The colt previously went through the ring as a yearling as part of Gainesway’s Keeneland September consignment, bringing a final bid of $220,000 from Tapizar’s breeder, Winchell Thoroughbreds, which raced both Tapizar and his sire, Tapit.
