TAPIT’s Scratch It Wins on Saratoga Debut

TAPIT’s Scratch It didn’t waste any time making an impression, winning a Saratoga Maiden Special Weight on debut.

Kicking off her career going 1 1/16 miles on the turf, the filly was first out of the gate and never looked back. Given an easy ride early by Manny Franco, she had to face a challenge with just over three furlongs left to go but it wasn’t a worry.

Asked to speed up and leaving those ones behind, she spent the final furlong building a lead to win by 1 ¼ lengths with only two horses within 8 ½ lengths of her at the line.

Trained by Brad Cox for Fergus Galvin, Mrs. M.V. Magnier, and Linda Shanahan, she was a $490,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga purchase by Atlantic Bloodstock when consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services.

The Newtown Anner Stud Farm-bred is a full sister to TAPIT’s Grade 3 winner Mufajaah and half-sister to the stakes placed Aunt Kat with the trio out of Grade 2 winner Carolyn’s Cat. In all, that mare has produced seven winners from 11 to race.

Carolyn’s Cat is one of four stakes producers out of Grade 3 winner People’s Princess with KARAKONTIE’s multiple stakes placed Soleil Volant also descending from that mare.

Scratch It has a full brother born on May 17 of this year to come.

This is the fourth juvenile winner of the year for TAPIT, with the group including a stakes placed runner.
