TAPIT’s Raased 19 ¼ Length Winner of Oceanport Stakes

146th stakes winner for Tapit

TAPIT added a second stakes winner to his weekend on Sunday when Raased romped in the Oceanport Stakes at Monmouth Park by 19 ¼ lengths to become his sire’s newest stakes winner.

Racing over 1 1/16 miles on the dirt after the race was rained off the turf, Raased kept his spot on the rail and pressured Island Commish when that one went for the lead. Heriberto Figueroa angled Raased to the outside of the leader to give him clear running and it would play an important part in the race only a few furlongs later.

Moving up to challenge the leader once more as they entered the final stages of running down the backstretch, Raased took over the lead with nearly no effort. The race was over from there as Raased opened up multiple lengths on the field around the turn.

Figueroa sat like a statue on the 5-year-old as Raased galloped away to win by a growing 19 1/4 lengths at the line.

Going off as the heavy favorite, the Oceanport Stakes is Raased’s third win in five starts with the horse also having a second place finish on his record as well. Trained by Alison Escobar for owner Candido Esquivel, Raased was bred by Shadwell Farm.

He is one of four winners for two-time winner Emtyazat, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Corinthian and Grade 2 winner Desert Hero. Two of Emtyazat’s other half-sisters are the dam of stakes winners Prayed For and Crew Leader.

The family also includes Group 2 winner Lizard Island and Group 3 winner Six of Hearts among others.

Raased becomes TAPIT’s 146th career stakes winner after Flippant gave him number 145 with yesterday’s Kentucky Downs TVG Preview Dueling Grounds Oaks victory.
