Magic On Tap became TAPIT’s newest stakes winner on Saturday when the son of Grade 1 winner Aubby K took home the Triple Bend Stakes (G2) win at Santa Anita.
Racing over seven furlongs, the gray was happy to let the two pacesetters race away from him over blazing fractions as he sat in third. Closing the gap as they entered the turn, the horse galloped to around the pair to have the lead shortly after they turned into the stretch.
Juan Hernandez asked Magic On Tap to go on from there and he complied, crossing the line two lengths in front to become owner-breeder Summer Wind Equine’s newest stakes winner.

“My horse, he helped me a lot, he broke really sharp and I was behind the speed all the race and then when I hit the quarter pole, I asked him to go and he responded really well,” said Hernandez. “It looked like he was playing, he was looking around. He never changed leads. I asked him a couple of times and he didn’t want to do it, so I let him alone because he kept running. It didn’t matter if he changed leads or not, he just kept going.”
Trained by Bob Baffert, Magic On Tap has now won half of his six starts with two second place finishes as well.
Magic On Tap is one of two stakes horses for Abby K by TAPIT alongside his Grade 3-placed full brother Principe Guilherme. Aubby K is also a half-sister to three stakes performers and out of Grade 3 winner Lilly Capote. Also in the family are Grade 1 winners Zapata and Room Service.
Aubby K also has a 2-year-old TAPIT filly named Definitive.
