TAPIT’s Free Look Tops Fasig-Tipton HORA Sale

Shared top spot with Gainesway-consigned Malleymoo

A Grade 2-placed TAPIT daughter was the co-sale topper at the Fasig-Tipton July Horses of Racing Age Sale on Monday when Chad Schumer purchased the 3-year-old for $550,000.

Purchased on behalf of Diamond Stud UK, Free Look was second in the Miss Grillo (G2) at two and also hit the board in one of her two starts this year. She is out of a full sister to Grade 1 winner Violence. That mare is also out of a winning dam of five winners from five to race.

Free Look’s fourth dam is the Filly Triple Crown winner Sky Beauty, who also produced a Group 3 winner and the dam of stakes winner and Group I placed Growl with multiple descendants of Sky Beauty producing stakes performers.

“She’s a beautiful mare,” Schumer told Thoroughbred Daily News. “TAPIT is a leading broodmare sire, she was graded stakes placed at two, she has beautiful conformation – she’s is an absolute cracker of a physical. And it’s a fantastic family. What more can you ask for? She has everything you would look for in a broodmare for the future.”

Free Look shared the sale topping spot with the Gainesway-offered Malleymoo, who sold to Steve Young. TAPIT was also the grandsire of the second highest priced horse, the $500,000 Crypto Mo, who is by his son Mohaymen. Crypto Mo won the Iowa Oaks (G3) right before selling at this sale.
