Edified showed why he was a $650,000 yearling purchase when making his debut on Saturday with the TAPIT son becoming his sire’s 53rd Thoroughbred Daily News Rising Star.
Making his debut over six furlongs at Ellis Park, Edified made it clear he was going to be a factor from the break when taking up a second place position. He was part of a trio that pulled lengths in front of the race of the field but had to steady around the turn when the hole he was gunning for inside the leader closed.
Switched to the outside once that happened, the colt had plenty of run left as he passed the leaders. Edified showed a little greenness in the stretch but that didn’t keep him from building a 3 ½ length lead by the line with the third placed runner five lengths behind.
EDIFIED ($21.70) looked like a pro breaking his maiden in @EllisParkRacing race 4. Steve Asmussen trained this 2yo Tapit (@Gainesway) colt! Jockey @JRosarioJockey had the mount. Congrats to owners Courtlandt Farms!
