Congruent became the latest stakes winner for TAPIT on Saturday with a 2 ½ length victory in the Laurel Futurity – the same race TAPIT won in 2003. The juvenile colt made his move in the stretch and entered a duel for the lead before ultimately taking command and pulling away in the end.
“I know we have a good horse. He’s in the process of maturing and growing,” co-owner Luis Gavignano said. “He’s only 2, but he has a great pedigree and since we bought him in Ocala, we knew that we had a good horse. We know that he needs more distance, but he’s improving every race.”
Congruent sold for $350,000 at this year’s OBS March Sale to trainer Antonio Sano and races for Tami Bobo and Lugamo Racing Stable. Bred by the Tapit Syndicate and Glencrest Farm, he is out of Grade 2 winner Part the Seas. That mare also produced the stakes winning Oceans Map.
