TAPIT’s Capensis Becomes 155th Stakes Winner for Sire in Virginia Derby (G3)

TAPIT’s Capensis became his sire’s newest graded stakes winner on Tuesday with a win in the Virginia Derby (G3) at Colonial Downs. A $2 million yearling purchase two years ago from Eaton Sales by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Robert LaPenta, Gainesway Stable, and Winchell, they were joined in the racing ownership by the colt’s breeder Stonestreet Stable. Racing over 1 1/8 miles on the turf in his stakes debut, the colt closed from midpack to win by two lengths for his second victory in three starts.

Capensis is the 97th graded stakes winner and 155th stakes winner for TAPIT. He’s the second graded stakes winner for TAPIT in the last four days.
