TAPIT TRICE Full Sister Breaks Maiden at Saratoga

TAPIT’s regally bred Danzit was a Saratoga Maiden Special Weight winner in her third start on Thursday at Saratoga.

Racing over 1 1/8 miles on the dirt, the filly stumbled early but quickly rebounded to take up a spot shadowing the leader. She raced just to the outside of that one with her nose at the leader’s tail while racing down the backstretch.

Moving into the far turn, Danzit crept closer to the leader to sit just a half-length behind at the top of the stretch. As they raced into the final furlong, Danzit headed the leader and had her neck in front at the line with the rest of the field 7 ½ lengths behind the top two.

Trained by Todd Pletcher for Whisper Hill Farm, the Gainesway-bred filly is raced by the same connections as her Grade 1 winning full brother TAPIT TRICE.

A $1.1 million buy at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Whisper Hill from Gainesway, Danzit is the second winner from three to race out of stakes winning Danzatrice. That mare is a half-sister to champion Jaywalk and four other winners out of Lady Pewitt.

This is also the family of Grade 2 winners Forest Camp and Mission Impazible.

Danzatrice has a yearling TAPIT colt and was bred to the stallion again this year. Her yearling colt is set to sell as Hip 300 at this year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
