Tacitus followed in the footsteps of his sire Tapit and stamped himself as a top contender for the G1 Kentucky Derby with an impressive 1 ¼-length victory in the G2 Wood Memorial Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets at Aqueduct Racetrack April 6.
“He reminds us of Empire Maker when he was coming into the classics,” Juddmonte Farms manager Garrett O’Rourke told The Blood-Horse of the Juddmonte homebred colt. “If there’s one thing you’re not worried about with him, it’s going a distance of ground. The only thing that could bother him, being a big horse, is getting into a tactical race, but I would hope the Derby would be a good-paced race, and that will suit him.”
