ANCHOR DOWN’s Successful Legacy visited the winner’s circle for the second time in four starts on Sunday with a 3 ¾ length victory at Tampa Bay Downs.
The filly broke widest of all in the one mile turf race and quickly took up the second spot as Donya’s Magic bolted to a five length lead. Successful Legacy was happy to let the leader tire herself out and started cutting down the margin late in the backstretch to take command in the turn.
By the time they hit the stretch, Successful Legacy had a length on the field and was given a gentle ride by Daniel Centeno from there as she pulled away with every stride. A late charge by the second placed horse saw Successful Legacy’s margin cut into slightly but there was never a danger of the filly losing as she crossed the line well in hand.
Bred by Farm III Enterprises, Successful Legacy races for Mr Pug LLC and J.P.G 2 LLC under the tutelage of trainer Gerald S. Bennett. She is one of 10 winners for TAPIT’S ANCHOR DOWN, who has a 50 percent strike rate with his first crop to put him at the top of all Kentucky second crop sires by winner percentage.
A half-sister to stakes-placed Manolete, Successful Legacy is out of a half-sister to Kentucky Oaks (G1) second Stone Legacy, who is also the dam of Grade 3 winner Hard Legacy. Under the filly’s third dam is Grade 1 winner Catinca with Grade 1 winner Inca Queen as Successful Legacy’s fourth dam.
